Concerti all’arrabbiata: some like it hot! Seventeenth-century Italy not only consumed great quantities of chili peppers, it was also the birthplace of virtuoso, explosive baroque music. The concertos of Platti, Vivaldi and Geminiani, with their furiously buzzing strings and fleet woodwinds, are perfect examples. These works inspired their musical neighbors in Germany, including Telemann, who penned a concerto for two intrepid horns as well as the Grillen-Symphonie. Gottfried van der Goltz and the musicians of the Freiburger Barockorchester offer fiery renditions of these thrilling works.

Concerti all’arrabbiata : chaud devant ! Si au XVIIe siècle l'Italie était une grande consommatrice de piment, c’est aussi le berceau d’une musique baroque virtuose et explosive. Les concertos de Platti, Vivaldi ou Geminiani en sont les parfaits exemples, avec leurs bourdonnements furieux aux cordes ou leurs bois véloces. Ils n’ont pas manqué d’inspirer leurs confères allemands, dont Telemann, avec son concerto pour deux cors téméraires et la Grillen-Symphonie. Gottfried van der Goltz et les musiciens Freiburger Barockorchester en proposent une version tout feu tout flamme.
